How To Create A Genuine Letterpress Look With Essentials By Ellen Hot Foil Stamps

Today I’m sharing three faux letterpress holiday cards featuring the Essentials By Ellen Hot Foil Stamps.

Hi everyone, it’s Carissa Wiley here with you today, and I have a really fun way to use your hot foil stamps, without foil!

I’ve always been a fan of letterpress, and I have a way you can get a gorgeous, authentic letterpress look using your hot foil stamps.  I’m using the Essentials By Ellen Snowflake, Believe, Happy Holidays and Jingle All The Way hot foil stamps today, but you can use any of your hot foil plates for this technique.

The key to this technique is the paper.  Letterpress paper is often thick, cottony and luxurious, which allows for a deep impression in the paper.  Today, I’m using the Essentials By Ellen 110 lb Letterpress card stock, which is perfect for this technique.

I’ll show you exactly how I accomplished this faux letterpress look without any cracking on my paper in today’s video.  Be sure to check it out.  I’ll also show you how I used the Karin Brushmarker Pro markers, which are new to the EllenHutson.com online store, to watercolor some adorable images for my cards.

Be sure to check out today’s video.  There will be lots of tips and tricks.

I hope you enjoyed this project, and I hope you’ll try it yourself.  Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!

XOXO
Carissa

Thanks for sharing these techniques, Carissa! I’m looking forward to trying them out. In your list of supplies, I don’t see the info about your paper trimmer. Could you please give the info about what kind, model number, etc. and where it can be purchased? Is it available at Ellen Hutson? Thanks so much.

GORGEOUS, elegant results! I’m going to try this technique! Easy watercoloring and a great look- can’t beat that combo!
I live in Minnesota, so my fav has got to be the snowflake card! 🙂

These are just beautiful! I love the effect! So many of the hot foil designs are so beautiful and I don’t have a hot foiling machine. Thanks for showing us an alternative way to use them!
