Cardmaking Power Couple: Hot Foil Stamping & Shaker Cards

Are you looking for a way to add a little extra shine to your next shaker card? How about the addition of a little foil? Carly thinks hot foil stamping and shaker cards are the perfect cardmaking couple and she’s here to share a little crafty inspiration! Check out more about her latest shaker card with Essentials by Ellen…

For anyone who follows my cardmaking adventures, you know that shaker cards are my absolute favorite type of card to make! Truly I can’t get enough! And what could be a better addition to shaker cards then a shaker window with shiny foil?!

The first step in creating this card was foiling my acetate. I used the EBE Crystal Clear Plastic, silver foil and the EBE Tiny Stars Background. In case you need any tips Julie has a great video, How To Hot Foil Stamp On Crystal Clear Plastic.

To make the infinity shaker card front, I placed the foiled acetate into an Avery Elle Storage Pocket (other pockets would work well too). I folded the pocket at the edge of the acetate, burnished with my bone folder and cut off the excess. I just wanted enough extra plastic to secure the pocket inside a folded card like this…

After adding sequins to the pocket with the foiled acetate, I used double sided tape to adhere the pocket shut.

Then I adhered the pocket to the card. And finally I adhered the card closed.

So then the card has a clear shaker cover and a white back like this…

I finished the card by adding a silver panel to the front & a die cut rainbow “hooray”.

I also put a matching silver panel inside to hide the “back” of the silver panel on the front.

I love that even when all the sequins have been shaken to the bottom, there are still shiny foil stars! Have I convinced you that your next shaker card needs a foiled acetate window? 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
