3 Card Ideas With Essentials by Ellen Squeeze The Day

How do you like to start the week? We like to start on a creative note, with a little cardmaking inspiration! Our wonderful EH Design Ambasssador Emily Mydlowski is here today to bunches of cardmaking eye candy! Prepare to be inspired!!!

Hi Friends! I’m so excited to share with you a fun way to stretch your stamps by creating three fruit-themed cards using one stamp set. Just by changing the colors of a few images in Squeeze the Day, you can create a lemon (yellow pigment), lime (green pigment) and a tangerine/grapefruit (orange pigment). I colored my stamped images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

While all three cards are one layer and embellishment free, I used a few color, texture and white space “tricks” to add extra pop and dimension to the card designs:

  • I “enclosed” the fruit images in vibrant contrasting colors so the citrus images would pop off the card. To create the vibrant color on the page, I added the marker pigment directly to the paper and then moved the pigment around with a small amount of water from a self-contained water brush.
  • For extra depth and interest, I added polka dots of black, white or a darker hue of watercolor to image edges and background open spaces.
  • I used white space to create dimension and movement by pulling the stamped images and color down or to one side on the card panel. The contrast of the extra white space allows the color to pop off the card.
  • For little extra dimension/texture, I heat embossed the crisp ink impressions with clear embossing powder.
